Spring Interiors: Embracing Lavender and Light
Spring has officially arrived, bringing with it longer days, more sunshine, and a palette of fresh possibilities for our interiors. As nature bursts into life with the first daffodils, I find myself drawn once again to the refreshing energy that this season brings to our homes. This year, I’m particularly excited about incorporating lavender—a colour that embodies both tranquility and renewal—into spring design schemes.
The spring personality at home
The spring personality is inherently friendly, outgoing, caring, and optimistic—just like the season itself, which symbolises rebirth and reinvention after winter’s long, dark months. In my experience, clients with spring personalities are wonderfully energetic and motivated, always ready to refresh their surroundings. These clients make fabulous hosts, often designing their homes with entertaining in mind. Their spaces are welcoming, open, informal, and fun—perfect for bringing people together. I recently worked with a client in Tunbridge Wells who transformed their kitchen with a curved seating area using bright colours and patterns. Although the room featured mostly off-white elements (walls, cabinets, worktop), we introduced vibrant accents around the table, creating a social focal point bursting with spring energy.

Bringing the outdoors in
Spring personalities have a natural affinity for the outdoors, which often manifests in their interior choices. I love helping these clients incorporate natural elements into their homes, from fresh flowers and foliage to botanical prints and nature-inspired accessories. In a recent Victorian cottage conversion, we softened large furniture pieces with delicate, abstract organic patterns on window dressings, effectively bringing the outside world in. The pastel floral curtains and cushions created a gentle transition between the garden views and interior space.

For another home renovation in Tunbridge Wells, we built an entire decorative scheme around a beautiful pink floral print. The patterned curtains became the room’s defining feature, later complemented by a carefully selected painting above the corner sofa that perfectly completed the look.

Lavender: The quintessential spring accent
The colour lavender has emerged as this season’s standout colour choice, and I couldn’t be more delighted. This versatile hue works beautifully in both traditional and contemporary settings, offering a sense of calm while remaining decidedly current. In two of my client kitchen renovations, we took the bold step of incorporating lavender on walls and cabinets, creating spaces that feel simultaneously soothing and invigorating. The colour catches morning light particularly well, transforming with the day’s natural progression in a way that continually refreshes the space.

What makes lavender especially appealing is its versatility. It pairs beautifully with natural wood elements, perfectly complementing the Scandinavian-inspired furniture that works so well in spring interiors. When combined with ribbed glass and decorative bobbin furniture (another current favourite), lavender creates spaces that feel both timeless and thoroughly modern.

This year’s design trends align beautifully with spring sensibilities. Organic lighting featuring natural materials like linen, raffia, and wicker continues to gain popularity. We’re also seeing a wonderful mix of strong brights alongside reassuring, earthy favourites like Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2025, Mocha Mousse.
Your spring transformation awaits
The classic English country aesthetic, with its touch of eccentricity, resonates particularly well with spring personalities. These clients use their creativity and personal expression to create spaces with abundant personality—an approach that aligns perfectly with my design ethos. I particularly enjoy the collaborative process of bringing their vibrant visions to life.
